The last week or so
I had a fabulous evening jumping up and down to rock music last tues, throughly good way to celibrate ones birthday. Most of the rest of the week was fairly quiet, shopping on saturday where shockingly for me I actually brought some cloths (I have been looking for cloths I like for about two months and generally not finding anything). Sunday was a lovely day here an Em and I walked out to godalming and onto a country pub for sunday lunch with J. Found a wonderful country pub, beer was excellent, expensive roast but very good, cm thick slices of meat lots of vedge. By the time we'd walked over we had definitely worked up an appertite, best sunday I have had in ages and one I hope will be repeated soon.Work continues to drive me mad, I just want to make some progress and interact with a few more people (office to me self/ research group onf one not really helping progress). Oh Cornaidd I was taking to someone about doing a holiday walking the inca trail, since you're a regular in that part of the world I was wondering if you knew anywhere to look for good holiday deals?Anyway back to the grind stone.

Agghhh - didn't know it was your birthday! Happy belated birthday!Regarding the Inca Trail - would you/they be looking for a group tour to join, or would you be happy to organise it by yourselves? It's easy enough to do. A flight will cost you £500-600 ish, then you can either fly to Cusco from Lima, or overland on a coach via the Nasca lines and Arequipa, depending on how much time you have. There's lots to do around Cusco anyway, so you won't get bored. When are you/they thinking of going? You can book with a group to walk the trail from the UK. myrddrr found SAS to be very good - http://www.sastravelperu.com/english/inkatrail.html - or Andean Life or United Mice are recommended too. Not all tour agencies are equal, and the cheaper ones skimp on food and pay the porters badly.
CheersThank you for the birthday wishs, no reason you should be aware of when it was since I didn't mention it on LJ.Thank you also for inca info, the sas site looks useful, I'll check the others as well. Not sure when would go its something I have liked the idea of doing for a long time, but haven't had money+time. I think it is the same for my friend who wants to go. If I did get myself organised it would probably be in the autume. By the sounds of it I need to do a bit of saving first, either that or some sneeky acedemic travelling (hope to make it to vancouver for a conference (uni pays flights), then maybe able to get cheaper flight from vancouver/seattle to peru, working in acedimia can be advantageous).Hope you're over the lurgie
I'm feeling miles better now, thanks. The most expensive part of the trip is definitely getting there. Once you are there, food/accommodation/travel are all very cheap. Let me know if you need any more info :)
